Thank you, Anifusion! Two Months of Insight

Introduction
Hello, this is Easygoing.
Today, I’d like to share what I’ve learned after two months of using Anifusion.
What is Anifusion?
Anifusion is an app that allows anyone to create comics easily.
Previously, I wrote an introductory article about Anifusion.
Thanks to everyone, that article was well received. This post is a follow-up to that article.
Ending the Subscription After Two Months
To start, after using Anifusion for two months, I decided to end my subscription. I mainly used it for creating comics for the top of my blog posts, but for now, I’ll be taking a break from creating comics.
Why I Ended It...
The main reason was cost.

Anifusion is a paid service, costing 20 Euros (approx. 3,300 yen) per month or around 40,000 yen per year.
In my case, I was only creating about one to two pages a week, meaning I was barely utilizing my subscription.
A more affordable plan for light users would have been nice, but without any announcements about new plans, I decided to end the subscription for now.
What Happens When You End the Subscription?
After ending the subscription, I could still log in to my workspace with the same account.

While generating new stories and images is no longer possible, I could still edit frames and speech bubbles and export previous works.
This means that previous projects remain accessible. Even after ending the subscription, you can continue to use Anifusion by uploading your own images.
If I need to generate new stories or images, I can restart the subscription on a monthly basis, which is a nice feature.

Drawbacks Beyond Cost
Here are some other points to consider regarding Anifusion besides the cost.
Stability Issues
As a new service, Anifusion has faced some stability challenges.
While updates are frequent, new features are rolled out as quickly as bugs are fixed, meaning that stability is still an issue.

Additionally, as user numbers increase, connection times have slowed, with login sometimes taking 30 seconds to a minute.
Occasional Service Disruptions
With the growing number of users, Anifusion’s use of OpenAI’s API for story generation can sometimes result in service disruptions due to depleted OpenAI credits.

Lack of Backup File Export
Anifusion operates online through a browser, storing data in the cloud.

For users creating long-format comics, the absence of a backup export function remains a concern, as it would allow for safekeeping of critical files.
Risks of a Small-Scale Service
Although Anifusion is gaining users, it hasn’t reached the scale of major software services.

Unlike major platforms, Anifusion has no alternative services. For instance, Adobe Photoshop’s PSD files can be opened in various programs, but Anifusion lacks such alternatives.
If Anifusion were to discontinue its service, users might lose valuable data and know-how. While Anifusion caters primarily to light users at the moment, a more affordable subscription plan would make it even more appealing.
Benefits of Using Anifusion
Despite its drawbacks, Anifusion has provided me with a lot of positive experiences.
I Could Finally Create a Comic!
One of the best things about Anifusion was that even a complete beginner like me could create a comic.

I had no prior experience with comic creation and didn’t know where to start. However, Anifusion’s semi-automated process made it easy to grasp the workflow quickly.
- Panel layout
- Story creation
- Image generation
- Speech bubble placement
Anifusion’s user-friendly interface meant I encountered no issues, even as a first-time user.

Learning the basic comic creation process has been a valuable experience that will serve me well if I use other services in the future.
An Idea: Combining SDXL and Flux.1
When I started using Anifusion, the recommended workflow was to use Flux.1[shnell] for initial drawings and then refine them with SDXL.
Since then, Anifusion has adopted Flux.1[dev], allowing all tasks to be done within the same model.

Before Anifusion, I had mixed models for creating images, but using both SDXL and Flux.1 models is something I learned from Anifusion.
Now, combining SDXL to enhance areas where Flux.1 struggles has become a key theme in my image generation process.
Commercial Use of Flux.1[dev]
Anifusion uses the Fal.ai platform, likely paying a license fee to Black Forest Lab, enabling commercial use of Flux.1[dev].

The availability of Flux.1[dev] is a huge advantage for Anifusion, as its quality is high and it has more custom models and LoRA options than the free Flux.1[shnell].
Anifusion Leads the Way
Anifusion stands out as one of the most advanced manga creation apps.
Many features implemented by Anifusion will likely become standard across other apps, but the speed of innovation at Anifusion is unmatched.

Anifusion’s subscription price is a consideration, but after two months of use, I believe it offers great value. If more groundbreaking features are added, I’d be willing to use it again.
What’s Next for Anifusion!
From Anifusion’s official account, here are some upcoming features.
Preset Functionality
Coming soon, a feature that will allow users to start creating comics in a specific style by selecting a preset style.

This will make the app even more accessible for beginners, while allowing experienced users to register and access their own presets for added convenience.
Character Consistency
Keeping character appearances consistent is one of the biggest challenges in AI comic creation.
Anifusion’s Short-Term Roadmap: - Improved support for LoRA (including model training) - Ability to manage custom character sets that include appearance, description, and personality. - Maintaining character consistency using LoRA and segmentation-based workflows.

-…
For stabilizing character appearance, LoRA is commonly used in AI image generation.
Flux.1 has some limitations with LoRA stability, but Anifusion is reportedly working on unique methods to make character consistency easier to achieve.
Animated Panels
Anifusion has demonstrated how AI-generated images can be combined with video-generating AI to create animated panels.
